Do’s and Don’ts for a fulfilling Diwali
The

for most of us. Take it just as a reminder to avoid any mishap during
Diwali and to please goddess Laxmi and take her blessings:

the family should sit facing the north while doing pooja.

the west.

prevail.Maintain cleanliness! Always keep your home clean. Never sleep
at messy place.
9 Maa Lakshmi
likes peace and harmony. So prevent disputes between family members.
Make a loving and peaceful environment at home.
10 Never taste food while you are cooking.
11Perform the aarti to please goddess Lakshmi with your entire family.
Don’ts for Diwali Puja
1 When
choosing gifts for friends and relatives, don’t choose leather items,
cutlery and crackers. If you want to gift any of these, accompany them
with some sweets.
2 Gambling should be avoided. Don’t play for money. Play for fun.
3 Avoid Drinking and taking non-vegetarian food on Diwali.
4 Don’t
leave the pooja area unattended throughout the night to make sure that
the diya remains lit. Keep on adding ghee to it as it gets finished up.
5 Do not use too many candles. Use Diyas instead.
6 Do not place that idol of Ganeshji in the worship area, which is not in a seated position and the one with right-sided trunk.
7 Do not light crackers when the lakshmipujan is on or immediately after it.
8 Do
not clap while singing arti of Lakshmiji . A small bell can be used. Do
not sing too loud as it is said that goddess Lakshmi abhors loud noise.
9 Do not place goddess Lakshmi alone, without her constant companion lord Vishnu.
10 Don’t use fireworks or sparklers indoors.
11 Don’t carry fireworks in your pocket. They're explosives and can go off prematurely even if they're not lit.
12 Don’t light fireworks in metal or glass containers.
13 Don’t wear silk, synthetic or flowing garments as they are prone to catching fire quickly.
The
usual precautions that spread by word during Diwali celebrations are
perhaps not uncommon to us. But, it is important to follow them to avoid
any untoward situation from cropping up. Gautam Buddha says – be a
light unto yourself. Don’t throw the responsibility on anybody else.
Take the responsibility, because it is by taking the responsibility on
yourself you become mature. Then only real celebration begins.
