Do's and Dont's on the eve of Mahashivratri
MahaShivratri Puja Vidhi
The
best way to worship Lord Shiv and Maa Parvati would be to rise early in
the morning and take bath. The next thing should be to visit a Shiva
temple and offer puja The first thing is to offer kachha jal (slow and
steady stream of water) to Shivling for shivratri puja. This should be
followed by offering a mix of jal and milk offering to Shivling. The
next thing to be offered is dahi followed by ghee. After ghee you can
offer honey followed by jal again. Items like bhasam and sugarcane juice
are also offered. It would be wise to offer Bhel leaves, scented
flowers and marking tripund with sandal paste to the Shivling. The three
stripes of the tripund represent spiritual knowledge, purity and
penance. Such worship bestows disease free life, wards off the fear of
untimely death, happy married life and stability in thoughts &
actions.
