The Baadhagasthaanam differs based on classification of lagna or rasi. There are three classifications. 1. Chara lagna 2. Sthira lagna 3. Ubhaya Lagna. For the chara lagna the baadhagasthaanam is 11 th house. For Sthirah lagna it is 9th house and for Ubhaya lagna it is 7th house. While assessing the horoscope first decide what type of lagna and which is the baadhaga house. Then see where the baadhagaathipathy is placed. Then see which dasa is running and also whether baadhagaathipathy dasa or bhukthi is running.  More than anything see whether the baadhaga house is vacant... Preferably it should be so.  If some planet sits there then that planet can not do good for the person even if he sits in exalted position.  Also assesss the strength of the baadhagaathipathy in Navaamsam.  Check whether the baadhagaa lord is in conjunction with malefics like Rahu or Kethu or Saturn and also whether benefics aspect the baadhagasthaanam and or baadhagaathipathy. 

While matching the horoscopes for wedding alliance just take note of this combination whether present in girl's horoscope. If Sun and Mars are together in 7th house be careful while matching. Ensure that Mars and Sun are well placed by way of exaltation or occupation and aspection in the boy's horoscope. If they are poorly placed then avoid that alliance.
